Remind is the main way we share important updates, announcements, and info from the North Atlanta Counseling Department. It’s used across the school, so it’s really important that both students and parents join the Remind group for your grade level.

This is how you'll get reminders about events, deadlines, and other important info — so don’t miss out!

How to Join:

9th Grade Teacher Tutorials

Every NAHS teacher has scheduled tutorial days & times for students to go in for extra help

  • Students may seek help from other teachers in the same content area

  • If your student cannot attend the tutorial days/times, work with the teacher to find an alternative day/time or go to another teacher

Class of 30 Freshman Parent Night

Attention Class of 2030 (Freshmen) Warrior Parents! Please join the NAHS 9th grade counseling and admin team on Tuesday September 28 for an hour of exciting updates regarding graduation requirements, community service, planning for the next four years, and much more. 9th Grade Summer 2025 Required Reading Assignment

All NAHS 9th-grade students are required to complete summer reading assignments.

These assignments are an essential part of the Lit/Comp 1 curriculum, count as a major test grade, and serve as the foundation for several major assignments at the beginning of the school year.

9th Grade Year Course Offerings & Placement Guidelines

9th Grade Students will have a total of 8 classes each semester

  • 4 Classes will be on A Days and the other 4 will be on B Days

  • A Days and B Days alternate throughout the whole school year

  • ​Most classes will be yearlong (both fall and spring semesters)​

  • Some classes will be 1 semester long classes (Aug-Dec or Jan-May)

  • Some classes are required while for others students/parent will can make a selection from a menu of classes

World Language Course Options:

  • Arabic

  • Chinese

  • French

  • Spanish

  • Spanish for Native Speakers

CTAE Pathway Course Options:

  • Audio/Visual Tech & Film

  • Business

  • Graphic Design

  • Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism

  • JROTC

Fine Arts Pathway Course Options*

*Performing Arts classes have required performances and activities beyond the regular school day

  • Band

  • Chorus

  • Dance

  • Guitar

  • Orchestra

  • Theater

Academic Electives:

  • Algebra 1 Support (Class is paired with Algebra class so that students will have Math every day; counts for elective course credit)

  • Reading/Writing Skills 1 (Class provides Language Arts academic support; counts for elective course credit)

  • AP Human Geography (AP Classes are equivalent to college level course; Class is extremely rigorous with a very heavy workload; Pre-Requisites must be met to qualify to take this course)

Academic Course Placement

​

  • Student placement in core academic subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, World Language) will be determined using students' grades and standardized test scores from their 8th grade year.

  • Grades and MAP Assessment scores from Fall semester will be used to determined placement during the February-March registration period.

  • Course placements are subject to change once spring final grades and Milestone test scores are finalized and released.
